Here's a snippet from Jim's site:
As you may have heard I have been diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is a very scary word, but as many others and I have discovered, can in some instances be cured. Doctors are confident that this is indeed true in my case. I am responding well to treatment and continue to play regularly. I intend to do so throughout the entire treatment schedule with a brief break to recover from surgery in March.
On January 23rd of this year, an incredible event occurred that instantly became one of those benchmark dates, which divide your life into before and after.
I cannot express my gratitude enough to Cheryl Lescom, Claude Cloutier, George White, Moya Spruce, Scott Morrison, and Beth Warren among many others whose combined efforts resulted in a fundraiser for my family and myself. The 9-hour performance showcased some very fine talent from across southern Ontario. I was initially overwhelmed by the attention but the end left me with incredible feelings of affection and encouragement.
I am blessed to be part of this musical community and to have so many friends who willingly and unselfishly give their support and love so that I may concentrate on getting well. This speaks volumes to the character of everyone involved.
Right now I am giving all my attention to an exciting new band which I have started with Al Richardson, Dave Watson and Mike Branton called WBRB. Here's the website: www.wbrbband.com - look for appearences in your area soon! Also, Electro Fi Records and Andrew Galloway are pleased to announce a new release of Mel Brown entitled LOVE LOST AND FOUND which contains 5 tracks that I recorded with Mel and others including Snooky Pryor. I am very proud of my association with this fine Canadian owned record label.
